1.Gold Coast Fun – SOON!
One of the biggest draw-cards on the Gold Coast are, of course, the theme parks, and lucky for you they are opening VERY SOON!

Australian Outback Spectacular opens July 3
Wet’N’Wild opens July 15
Warner Bros Movie World opens July 15
Of course, all of these parks & attractions will be doing their very best in health and safety, ensuring you don’t need to worry about anything than having fun.
All parks will be adhering to social distancing of 1.5m, contactless payment will be encourages, and they will be opening to 50% capacity to ensure more space for those families who do visit.
Just keep in mind during your visit that some attractions, shows, experiences, meet and greets and food / retail outlets may be closed or modified to ensure their commitment to safety.
2.Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo – Open NOW
One of the most beautiful places Australia to visit is the Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, and lucky for you, it’s open NOW!
The great thing about this attraction is that it’s outdoors – so concerns of being indoors near others can be put aside. Not only that, the park will monitor daily visitor numbers to ensure social distancing, and tickets will only be available to purchase online to restrict queues at the gate.
In person keeper talks will be accessible virtually, and those few exhibits that are indoors such as the Galapagos Tortoise indoor viewing area remain closed.
3.Kakadu National Park – Open NOW (from 19 June)
One of the most stunning and unique destinations in the entire country, has just opened Friday, and it couldn’t be more beautiful.
Croc spotting, fishing, swimming, rock art and UNESCO World Heritage Sites await, along with of course some of the most stunning wildlife you could ever see.
Here at the largest national park in Australia, you can connect with the oldest living culture on earth (the park is almost 20,000 sq km!)
They do have a staged re-opening, so check ahead of your visit the specifics. A select number of boat ramps will be re-opened, as well as walks.
Whilst you are in the great outdoors, ensure you take it upon yourselves to adhere to social distancing throughout your journey.
4.Hyde Park Barracks – Open NOW
From June 1, this UNESCO World Heritage-listed site in the heart of historic Sydney opened, meaning you can head back to learn their extraordinary living record of early colonial Australia.
The property was originally built to house convicts, but also served as an immigration depot, asylum, government offices and law courts, and now today, a fantastic museum that can allow you to embrace living history once again.
Make sure you pre-book your tickets online before your visit, and keep an eye on the protocols they have introduced around the museum to ensure your visit is as safe as possible.
Hyde Park Barracks isn’t the only Sydney Living Museum that’s now open – Museum of Sydney, Vaucluse House. Elizabeth Farm, Meroogal, Rose Seidler House and The Mint are also open too, so days of family learning fun ahead!
5.Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park – Open NOW
Whilst 2020 has been a year of unforgettable and tragic events, we can’t forget the bushfires early this year, and one of the hardest hit areas was Kangaroo Island, which was ultimately as devastating due to it’s unique and unparalleled ecosystem.
However, Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park is back OPEN, and welcome visitors with open arms to experience koalas, kangaroos, and everything that’s so special about Australia.
Whilst you’re on Kangaroo Island, it’s worth noting that the stunning Flinders Chase National Park has been open since early June for tours with accredited guides, but self-driving visits will open July 4th.
Since those devastating bushfires, a visit to the hard-hit Kangaroo Island is a great way to support the local economy and local wildlife in their rehabilitation.
Some experiences and dining across the island might still be opening up, but support the community and make this incredible island one of the “must do’s” when you start those family days out again.
