Whether it's nature, sports, arts, science, animals, or rides - there will be something for everyone!
Did you know that Portland isn't actually Oregon's capital that a lot of people may think. It's actually the LARGEST city (the capital being Salem). Sitting in the shadow of the snow capped Mount Hood, and on the banks of the Columbia and Willamette rivers, it's known for it's nature, it's parks, and it's eco-friendly way of living.
Parents - there are plenty of microbreweries too!
Did you know that Portland has a museum JUST for kids? Yep! The Portland Children's Museum is dedicated to inspiring the imagination, creativity and discovery of kids through learning and play. A museum where you can touch and interact with the exhibits? Why not!
Fancy something...thrilling? The Oaks Amusement Park is the OLDEST continually operating amusement park in the entire USA. Filled with rides and amusements, it's not only a fun day out, it's also a walk through the history books!
ROAR! Time for some animal fun we think? Oregon Zoo brings animals from all over the world to this great city, where you can see Asian elephants, Arctic polar bears, Peruvian penguins, and even explore an Africa rain forest! Think you're ready for a wild time?
Let's not forget about the nature in Portland. Washington Park has over 400 acres of trees, gardens, trails, playgrounds, and is a hidden oasis within the city limits. Perhaps you want to visit the Japanese Gardens instead, which is a great learning experience for the kids, too.
During your stay in Portland, make sure you explore the surrounding great outdoors which is waiting for you. It's a beautiful part of the USA, and it really is a city that you will want to head back to again, and again, and again!
