Wildlife West Nature Park
About Wildlife West Nature Park
Wildlife West Nature Park is so much more than your typical zoo. This park, just 20 minutes from Albuquerque, New Mexico offers a home for animals native to Southwestern USA that aren't able to be released back into the wild.
And YOU get to visit these animals and support the cause!
Wildlife West Nature Park is open year round, and welcomes families to come and learn all about these amazing creatures, hear their stories and give kids an understanding about conservation and rehabilitation.
Kids can meet the adorable owls, and even eagles. There are cheeky roadrunners, impressive elk, and even the slow tortoise. Birds of Prey also call this nature park home, as do foxes, prairie dogs and more.
All the birds and animals at Wildlife West Nature Park are non-releasable, in keeping with their philosophy of bringing education to the public without harming ecological balances in other parts of the region.
The habitats are designed to provide the best possible combination of viewing opportunities and harmonious living for our residents, and our animal enrichment programs ensure that the animals are both physically and mentally healthy.
An invaluable learning experience for the kids at this New Mexico nature park, Wildlife West is a "zoo" making a difference! You just might be inspired!

Wildlife West Nature Park FAQ’s
Doing our bit
Wildlife West is dedicated to sustainable design and construction practices. Unlike many conventional zoos, they have made a concerted effort to minimize our disturbance of the ecosystem to the maximum extent possible, preferring to seek harmony between the designs and the environment in which they are placed. Wildlife West has a certain advantage to this; since all their captive species are native to the Southwest, they are generally already well-adapted to the environment in which they live.
