Virginia Safari Park
About Virginia Safari Park
Have you ever seen pictures of Africa and seen all the beautifully unusual and colorful animals that roam across the plains? At Virginia Safari Park, you can get up close to these incredible animals without having to leave the country!
Bundle the family in the car and enjoy the safari drive-thru zoo, where the animals are free to roam as little or as much as they like! You have over 3 miles of lovely gravel road, but you best not be in a hurry - because the animals might not be! If you are lucky, you will be able to feed the animals through the windows with the parks special grain! We bet you might be the only person in your class to have hand fed a zebra!
You will get to see the animals following their natural instincts. You might witness two males challenging each other over a female, or if you are very lucky you might even witness the birth of a really cute baby! You won't have to wait long to see it's first steps either - animals adapt pretty quickly and are up and walking in no time!
When you are ready to stretch your legs (just like the baby animals have done!) then you can head to the Safari Walk Through area where you can wander past some of the fascinating animals exhibits on offer, such as the Tiger Territory (don't worry - you don't need to feed these guys by hand!) or the super fun Kangaroo Walkabout where you can hop along with the very cool looking kangaroos.
If you want to get really hands on, there is an enjoyable petting zoo where you can feed and pet the goats and their kids (A baby goat is called a kid!!, sweet little potbellied pigs and their even cuter babies, pecking chickens, and baby llamas.
Not enough fun for you? Good thing they have wagon rides to top it all off!
So let Virginia bring animals from over 6 continents to you, and enjoy these beautiful creatures with the incredible backdrop of the Shenandoah Mountains!

The aptly named Watering Hole cafe has a delicious full menu full of both savoury and sweet snacks and meals. Unless of course you want to try the special grain for the animals? We didn't think so!
