About USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
Mobile, Alabama is home to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park - a beautiful tribute, history lesson and military attraction.
There are a number of exhibits you can visit to enable your family to step back into an era of bravery, adventure and comradery. The USS ALABAMA was the receipient of nine WWII Battle Stars, serviced the Pacific Fleet, fought in Okinawa and led the American fleet in Tokyo Bay. Ever climbed inside an actual gun turret? Well now you can, as well as man a 12mm gun and get locked in the brig!
Alongside the USS ALAMABA itself, sits other combat and miliatary vessels such as the Submarine USS DRUM which conducted 13 war patrols and awarded 12 Campaign stars. Famiies can even get right up close and climb inside the ship, and really experience what the Navy submariners would have gone through.
In addition to these two great naval ships, the musuem is home to at least 25 great aircraft that will help you understand and re-live their glory days, including "Calamity Jane" and the A-12 "Blackbird".
There are fascinating overnight tour options available for your Scout group where you can spend the night in the onsite accommodations and take tours of the vessels.
It's a great, hands-on way to understand and learn about history and the heroes of our country.
