The Wild Center
About The Wild Center
Let's get WILD in New York State's great outdoors! Are you ready? We're talking about The Wild Center, which is 81 acres of outdoor adventure for the whole family, and the perfect way to fill an entire day (or two) for those nature loving families.
The Wild Center is perfect for kids of all ages, and parents, who love hands-on fun, adventure, and even animals! Let's start with the newest feature - the Wild Walk! This is a super fun elevated trail across the treetops, where you can get an incredible birds eye view of the surrounding Adirondack forest.
During this walk, kids can also learn about the wildlife that live in the forest, and what it means to survive. Did you know only 1 in every 100 eggs makes it? Imagine how strong that one needs to be to survive from weather, predators and hunger!
Wild Walk is where you can ascend, foot by foot, towards a point of view that you rarely get to see. You can leave the comfort of the familiar ground, and pretend just for a day you are a majestic bird in the treetops!
There are so many great experiences at Wild Center. Kids can even climb into a HUGE bald eagles nest to see what it would be like!
When you want to move indoors, there are even more hours of things to see and do in the museum. There are exhibits that will give kids a deeper understanding of fish, turtles, plants and other creatures in the region. They are only some of the animals in the Wild Center too! There are over 900 LIVE Adirondack creatures, from ravens, to snakes, and even otters where kids can enjoy getting face to face with these cuties!
We haven't even started telling you about the canoe trips on the Raquette River yet! So much nature and adventure to enjoy at Wild Center - so let's all walk on the wild side!
