The Mount Washington Observatory
About The Mount Washington Observatory
The public are welcome to visit the dual sites of the Mount Washington Observatory at North Conwy Village where there’s also a weather discovery centre, or by snowcat to the summit site where there’s a museum on the peak’s unique alpine ecology.
Tours are available of the working weather station where kids can meet the scientists, explore the equipment and learn about working 6,288 feet up.
Its mission is to advance understanding of the natural systems that create the Earth's weather and climate, by maintaining its mountaintop weather station, conducting research and educational programs and interpreting the heritage of the Mount Washington region.
