About The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center

Kids as young as 6 months can get excited at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center with all the interactive exhibits and activities that explore and celebrate the history and heritage of Kentucky!

Located on the Country Music Highway, the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center puts the past in perspective, and moves the present into the future.

There are plenty of hands-on and interactive experiences to entertainment and educate. You can step into a 19th century classroom and become and students of the 1870s. We imagine school life was pretty different back then to schools now!

How about exploring the medical world when late night house calls were back on horseback - and yes, payments were chickens!

Immerse yourselves in the culture of Eastern Kentucky music, and even visit the Cyrus and Judd families - you know who we are talking about!

Those creative kids can even create their own music on the Karaoke Korner stage, or at Music Quilt - the interactive sound sculpture!

Did you ever think you would see Hilter's last telephone? Well, at the Highlands Museum and Discovery Center you can do just that, and salute those who served during the wars of the 20th century.

Then, we come back to those little ones! The discovery center features a special place for toddlers to enjoy their own space, whilst older kids can enjoy interactive fun at the pilot simulation station.

From role play opportunities, learning about the natural world, challenging yourselves in the puzzle garden, or navigating Joe the little towboat, there is SO many fun things to experience and learn at this Kentucky discovery center, you might have to head there as soon as it opens to fit it all in!

So c'mon kids - let's discover!
