About The Dixon Gallery and Gardens

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens is one of Memphis' premier art museums, so if you are looking for a creative and inspiring family day out in Tennessee, then this might just be the place for you!

This popular museum specializes in impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and decorative arts. Throughout its history, the museum has ensured a rich cultural experience for visitors by creating unique educational programs featuring exhibitions highlighting the Dixon's strengths: the fine art collection, decorative art collection, and beautiful thriving gardens.

The permanent collection at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens has grown to over 2,000 fine art and decorative art objects, including paintings, sculpture and works on paper.

Have you heard of Monet, and Renoir, and Pissarro? All of these artists and more are showcased at this impressive art museum, offering an incredible opportunity for kids to experience some of the most beautiful and inspiring art works in the world.

Don't miss heading out into the gardens, where not only can you stroll through nature, but explore the many sculptures dotted throughout, from terracotta sculptures, to works in bronze.

Then you have the changing exhibitions, where you can always head back and see something new and exciting.

It's a day where kids can discuss colors, techniques, what they love about the art, and there is no wrong answer! They might just be inspired to go and create their own masterpiece when they return home.

You never know, there might be a Picasso in the family ready to come out!

Art, nature, and the great city of Memphis - what more could you want?
