The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center
About The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center
Kids, have you ever wanted to visit one of the largest monuments in the entire USA? Well, at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, not only can you visit this monument, but you can learn all about the history, art and culture of the Chisholm Trail, the American West, and those iconic American cowboys too!
The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is filled with fascinating exhibits that will educate kids, and give them a feel of what life was like back during those iconic years within the USA.
The Garis Gallery of the American West is a great place to start, as this has been described as one of the largest collections of Native American and western art. The gallery also features local artists too, and the collection really captures the life and culture of a time gone by.
Kids, it's now time to giddy-up and head on into your theater experience! It's here you can experience the mania of a real life stampede - you can even smell the open prairies and hear the stomping of the final hoof beats! This unique experience will really make you feel like you are out wrangling those herds, and yelling "yee-haw" with the best of them!
Then there is the animatronic theater, which isn't your average dusty ol' museum exhibit! From cowboys, to Indians, and yes, even robots, here kids can experience a weather worn Jesse Chisholm taking all about the trail history, and the future too!
The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center also knows what kids love out of a family day out, and the interactive area is perfect for them. Here, they can toss a rope around a Longhorn steer, or ride a bucking bronco! How fun!
Make sure you say hi to the very rude chuckwagon!
With exhibits on the ecosystem of the trail, and detailed accounts of those who used to call it home, the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center really is so much more than just a museum. It's a place where kids can really feel like they have stepped back in time, and are experiencing this part of American history first hand.
There is also a great 4D Experience Theater which lets you be part of an exclusive show that is only shown at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, and it will really give you an iea of what it means to be part of a cattle drive! There's also a multi-sensory experience too, so kids will love it!
Don't miss the HUGE bronze monument too, where at 15ft high and 35ft across, you can really take in the work that went into this homage to the American cowboy.
