Cultural experiences in art, history and science are waiting across the 8 acres of The Besser Museum of Northeast Michigan, where over 47.000 artifacts are houses, plus a full dome planetarium AND a large fossil park. Are you excited to explore?
How about art - kids, do you know many famous artists? Well if not, a trip to the Besser Museum will fix that! The art exhibits rotate through the extensive collection of fine art from local, regional, national and well, world-renowed.
Have you ever heard of Dali, or Cezanne, or Picasso, or Warhol? The Besser Museum showcases works from such incredible talents, it's quite an experience to see them in person!
If history is more to your liking, you might be excited to know that The Besser Museum features an 1890s Avenue of Shops, where you are transported back to the turn of the century, plus a historic village with five original structures - each over 100 years old!
There's a 1911 Alpena Flyer vehicle as well as the Alpena Motor Car Company exhibit, or you can uncover prehistoric and Native American artifacts as you learn of the peoples who called the lakes and the forests home.
If you love wildlife, head on over to the Natural Wildlife Gallery, featuring native and non-native fish from the Michigan Great Lakes, plus mounted species from all around the world!
Don't forget to make a stop at the Dome Planetarium Theater to check out some out of this world shows, and get digging in the outdoors for those fossils!
