About Southern Food and Beverage Museum

A family day out all about food? Yes please - where do we go!?

Well, luckily for you, there is the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans. If there's going to be a museum all about Southern flavors, we can't think of a better place than New Orleans to have it!

The museum is all about understanding, and celebrating, the drink, food and culture of the South. The museum will take you on a journey through all of the culture that have all come together in this vibrant city, to create the unique culinary heritage that we now know in the south.

Did you know that there is a German influence in the south? And mix that with Caribbean, African-American...you get something pretty special!

It's a fascinating and educational look at all who are responsible for the food today. Form the farmers, fisherman and hunters who produced the food, to the chefs, inventors and business people who run the restaurants and stock up all the stores.

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum might be a museum, but they also host special exhibits, demonstrations and even tastings where you can try first hand those amazing flavors that the South are famous for!

Also part of the same complex is the Museum of the American Cocktail, where you can learn all about the 200 year history of this influential drink!

So why not take the kids through the history of the amazing food scene in New Orleans, before heading out there and tasting it all for yourselves!

Yum yum!
