Why read about history in books, when you can experience it first hand!

The Slate Run Historical Farm is a living history museum that has turned back the clock all the way back to the 1880s! The whole family can experience what life was like first hand, on a real Ohio farm.

How do you think it will be compared to your lives today? Do you think it would have been a hard life, or a fun life?

Spend some time strolling around the gardens. Take in the atmosphere as the costumed characters are going around their daily business. Watch the canning fruit in the kitchen, or ploughing the fields with horses.

You can explore the barns, and the farmhouse. There are even fun animals to encounter! Percheron horses roam the fields, and pigs, geese and turkeys and making the farm lively!

The Slate Run Historical Farm also specializes in heirloom breeds, so it's a fun way for kids to learn all about animals and they roles on a working farm.

It's not just farm fun at Slate Run - there is also playground equipment for kids to play on, where they can crawl, play and climb! The farm is also set on some pretty lovely land, so there is a natural play area in store for you too!

Make sure you check the activities across the year, because they change seasonally and they are always popular with the whole family! Anyone can have a go at sheep shearing, and even making maple syrup! 

If you all have some more energy to use up, there are 9 way-marked nature trails which are located in the immediate area, and three of these are under a mile, so they are perfect for those little legs!
