About Sarasota Jungle Gardens
Kids, do you want to know a really cool fact about the Sarasota Jungle Gardens? Well, they are actually one of the oldest continuously operating attractions in the entire state of Florida? That's pretty cool, isn't it!
Sarasota Jungle Gardens have been open since 1940, and very little has changed over the years, ensuring that it still captures that old Florida charm! It certainly showcases memories of Florida during a time gone by, so it's a great introduction to the state's history too for kids!
Did you know that the vegetation at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens actually attract people from all over the world? Once it was considered impenetrable swamp, but it turned out that the soil was actually teeming with nutrients, making it an incredible place for plants to thrive!
The Butterfly Garden is a fun place for the kids to visit, and can be found under a beautiful canopy of trees - many of them fruit! There are palms, flowering vines, self-seeding flowers, and of course incredibly colorful butterflies and moths.
It's not just plant life within these gardens either. In fact, there are over 200 animals all through the park. How many can you spot?
Maybe it will be those beautiful birds, from the cockatoos, to macaws and parrots, or those cheeky primates including the lemurs and monkeys.
From the smallest frogs on the ground, to those snapping icons of Florida - the alligators and crocodiles - it is almost a zoo in these gardens!
For those kids who want a hands on experience with wildlife, the Petting Zoo is where they should head, with chickens, goats and miniature cows!
What's lovely about these animals is many of them came to the gardens rescued, which means that each one has a story and kist will be able to understand why it's so important to care for animals. Some of them in the gardens are rare and endangered too.
A beautiful family day out in nature, showcasing what makes Florida so special!
