About Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

It's all about Mother Nature at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden! A living museum, kids and the family can spend the day wandering around amazing gardens, flowers, and learning all about the wonders and the amazing diversity of California's flora.

The collections throughout the garden are arranged in seasonal displays, and you can learn all about them through the signage across the gardens, as well as docent led tours. Did you know that there are about 78 acres to explore?

Well, we should start then!

First thing you will notice when you arrive, are the sweeping views to the Santa Ynez Mountains, as well as the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. Amazing landscapes! The perfect spot for an amazing botanic garden experience.

There are over 1,000 different plants on display (did you know there were that many in the state alone?)

There are 5.5 miles of pathway to explore, as well as featured areas within the gardens. There is even a bit of history within the garden too with the historic Mission Dam dating back to 1807. Pretty cool! You can even see an authentic Japanese Teahouse and Tea Garden.

Throughout the gardens, you can make your way through meadows, trails and redwoods. There are canyons to explore, and native gardens to learn about.

If you want to know a bit more about the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens and your visit, a great place to start is the Information Kiosk where they can answer all of your questions.

It's a day out with Mother Nature in Santa Barbara, and with everything to see and learn, you'll never look at another garden the same again!
