At 27,000 sq. ft., the museum is the largest indoor model railroad display in the world. The individual HO and N scale layouts are among largest of their type. Criteria for membership in the individual clubs is determined by each club.
They collect, preserve, and disseminate information about California railroads using model trains, displays, and educational programs. Every curve, turn, and tunnel provides the opportunity to excite scholars with innovative educational programmes that stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. From hamlets to megacities, we maintain and preserve our collection of over 150 scale models of California railroads. Students are inspired to create and tinker with engines and track to construct and reconstruct their own models.
SDMRM is dedicated to researching, preserving, and presenting the heritage of railroads in America using scale models of California railroads.
They inspire children to think critically, be creative, and solve problems by developing educational programmes. Modelers can build and change their own worlds with little engineers by tinkering with engines and fixing tracks.
