The San Diego Botanic Gardens is an all day experience offering vast swathes of stunning themed landscaping to explore, with imaginative display gardens representing plant life from most of the world, and even under the sea.

Are you ready to enjoy a day out in nature?

The San Diego Botanic Gardens is FILLED with plants, flowers, and great fun for kids!

The Hamilton Children's Garden features a whole other range of zones and themes to appeal to the smaller guest, with Spell and Smell Garden, art, construction and elemental play, musical instruments and grass maze, plus wild butterflies, birds and quail.

The Seeds of Wonder Children's Garden is specifically for preschool children featuring a playhouse, topiary, dinosaur garden and a miniature railway.

Then across the rest of the gardens, you can explore the rest of the stunning flora. Plants from Down Under feature in the Australian Garden, or you can feel the magic of Africa in the African Garden.

Those beautiful winged creatures make an appearance at the Bird and Butterfly Garden, and there are even plants from Central America!

Bamboo gardens, herb gardens, California landscapes, even desert features, there are SO many stunning areas within the botanic gardens. 

Also at San Diego Botanic gardens are year round seasonally based garden events and activities aimed at children and families, from outdoor art sessions and scavenger hunts to tuition in building a fairy garden.

It's the nature of the world, all within reach in San Diego! Just don't forget to take the camera!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at San Diego Botanic Gardens?

The Coffee Cart is open Daily from 10am to 2pm. It is closed on Mondays and Fridays during the winter. Refreshment offerings vary but usually include soda, lemonade, coffee, soft pretzels, ice cream, hot dogs, chips, fruit, and muffins. Yum!

Any top tips when visiting?

As a public service, the Garden offers free admission to
San Diego County residents!

Does San Diego Botanic Gardens have a gift shop?

There is a gift shop where you can pick up some great souvenirs!

Does San Diego Botanic Gardens have healthy eating or Vegan options?

There are picnic tables at the gardens so why not take your own packed lunch!

Is San Diego Botanic Gardens fully accessible?

There are two wheelchairs available at the gift shop at no charge but they are first come first served. Paths are largely accessible.
