About Sampson County History Museum
We all learn about history in schools, but how fun is it to learn about history when you are actually IN the place that it happened!?
Sampson County History Museum is a great place to learn all about the local history and heritage of the county, and the surrounding area. You might also find yourself in history too!
The museum started out as 5 rooms back in 1903 (that's a LONG way back in history!), but now has become a place where families can look through thousands of permanent artifacts, where the entire family can explore pages from the past.
You can even reflect on your own lives and YOUR place in history!
Each of the buildings at the Sampson County History Museum holds it's own "unique key to the past", as it allows you to discover a number of artifacts and antiques, each of which tell an incredible story.
It's a great experience for kids as they can have a think about what people and stories might be connected to them. What families might have experienced what you are seeing - those artifacts might have played a very special part of their lives!
The museum isn't just indoors either! The Sampson County History Museum also has a number of historic buildings, including an outhouse, early 1900s resorted gas pumps, a smokehouse and even authentic millstones that were used when corn was actually ground locally into meal!
Did you know that there is even an old Bunting Cabin, built around 1750, that is one of the oldest structures in the entire eastern part of North Carolina?
History is waiting to be discovered at the Sampson County History Museum! What will you uncover next!?
