About Roosevelt State Park
If you want a day out in nature for your next family day out, and happen to be in Mississippi, then maybe Roosevelt State Park is what you need! This fun and beautiful state park is located between Meridian and Jackson, and has a number of outdoor activities just for you!
The scenic overlook gives you panoramic views of the Bienville National Forest, so it's not a bad little spot to have some lunch and get active! The park is a beautiful place to visit all year round - and kids especially love the fall when the forest is all bright and colorful with those deep fall reds and oranges.
Let's not forget those crunchy leaves that you can stomp on the ground after they've fallen!
There are a number of fun activities to do during your time at Roosevelt State Park! If you love the water, there are 150 acres of fresh water for fishing all year round! The lake is actually stocked with catfish, crappie, bream and bass, so a great opportunity to sit back with your rod, relax and try and catch your dinner!
From the edge of the water to ON the water, Shadow Lake gives you that same 150 acres of fresh water for skiing! Water skiing is allowed Memorial Day to Labor Day, so get ready to ski your way into summer!
Ever tried disc golf? No? Now might be your chance! There is an 18 hole disc golf course which winds it's way through the park - and is free to use once you're inside the park!
Roosevelt State Park has boat launching facilities, as well as tennis course for a rental fee. A fun playground is available for kids in the day use area, and of course what would a state park be without nature trails?
A beautiful nature filled family day out with so many activities, you might have to make it a weekend! (and you can - they have camping sites and cabins!)
