About Rocky Mount Living History Museum

Step back in time kids, we're off to the 18th century! 1791 in fact, when George Washington was President of the United States! The Rocky Mount Living History Museum gives a colourful insight into 1700s pioneer life and can transport the family back in time to really gain an understanding of what life was like in the past.

Set at the foot of the stunning Appalachian Mountains, it's here kids can explore recreated buildings with costumed characters, portraying Cobb family members, neighbors and servants. They would love to invite you to be their guest!

Make your way to the historic kitchen and interpreters demonstrate 18th century cooking techniques and tools, before you can enjoy time in the garden filled with plants often used in 1791!

Last on your trip back through time is a visit to the weaving cabin, where you can learn about flax and wool, and see techniques for how they were used!

Your self-guided tour means you are free to roam at your own pace, however there may be interpreters at the blacksmith or trade venues.

There are regular events held in character with the setting which are extra fun for families too, so keep an eye out for those! In spring and summer you may take a tour of the heirloom garden and learn about the vegetables of yesteryear!

A historical fun and fascinating step back in time in Tennessee!
