Get ready to Travel Thru Time at the Platte County Museum! History can be re-lived through the History Gallery that is filled with amazing historic items, artifacts and Victorian furnishings that can teach kids so much about what life was like in another time.
The gallery features discoveries of fossils, Indian stone tools, artifacts and photographs of early Platte County, settlers and communities. You can see an 1920s bank fault weighing 5000lbs, as well as an authentic Turn-of-the-Century Barber Shop!
If you love the automobiles, the Platte County Museum also has a real 1913 Indian Motorcycle, as well as a 1914 "Baby Grand' Chevrolet!
To really imagine life before your time, head to the rooms of Victorian clothing, furnishings and heirlooms. There is an actual cabin that was built in 1857 and now stands enclosed within the museum. Many of the furnishings were the originals still in the cabin after nearly 150 years. how impressive is that!
Kids, just imagine what life would have been like back then. No computers or iPhones that's for sure!
There is plenty to see for the kids. Whether they love history or not, they can be entertained by the displays that will be unlike anything they are used to in their lifetime!

They have historical programs and membership meetings the 1st Sunday of every month, at 2pm in the West Annex. Being a member is a great way to support the museum !

They happily offer year round tours for students. Just give them a call on 402-564-1856. Out of season, it's all by appointment
