First of all, the museum building is an exhibit in itself! The building used to be home to the old Boeing School of Aeronautics, created to actually compete against the Wright Brothers Flying School, way back in 1929. Now, it's a great museum just for you!
The collection at the Oakland Aviation Museum is varied enough for all tastes, and there are a number of actual aircraft on display that the kids can see with their very own eyes!
They can see the nost section from a DC-6B, or the A-3 which is the largest and heaviest carrier based aircraft that was operational.
From Vietnam war veterans, to one-of-a-kind helicopters, kids will always get a kick out of seeing these incredible aircraft in person!
The museum have flight simulators that are open on cockpit days where you can actually see what it feels like to sit in the cockpit, and those little pilots can have even more fun with the Interactive Learn to Fly area, with two replica aircraft which lets them sit in a real plane, and their imaginations can take them up in the sky! They can even listen to real-time air traffic controllers.
With tours and events too, the Oakland Aviation Museum is filled with fun things to do as part of your family day out! Enjoy kids...fly safe!
