Have you ever been to museums, where you walk around looking at really cool things, and not quite understanding what they are? You want to learn about them, but there is either not enough information, or so much that you get overwhelmed and can't read it all!
Well, the North Carolina History Center, which is part of Tyron Palace, has created a whole new and fun experience just for you! It will change the way you spend time in museums and learning!
They will give you the History Navigator tours, where you get a portable interactive device which allows you to access a personal navigator, informative guide and reference librarian all at once! Not only that, you get to carry it in your hand as you walk around, and look and videos and images, as well as listen to the history of discoveries, landscapes and buildings!
The museum also have fascinating rotating exhibitions, rare artefacts and fun historical activities for kids so every visit there is something new to see!
In the same complex, the Pepsi Family Center will take you through time, where a very cool virtual time machine will transport you to a small river village in North Carolina's Central Coastal Region. The year will be 1835. How many years ago is that - quick! Hands-on activities will greet you and entertain you as you step back in time. Ever wanted to sail a ship? Ahoy Captain climb aboard! Perhaps you want to distill turpentine, or piece and electronic quilt together? What's that sailor? The shopkeeper needs to find merchandise for customers? Better get on it!
Also on the site are the Duffy Exhibit Gallery and Regional History Museum to really round up your historical experience!

What would a museum visit be without a gift shop! The Museum Store has a wide variety of specialty products, including books, food, plants, pottery and fine crafts, jewelry, tabletop objects, and toys - so you won't be short of things to find for yourself!
