The National Museum of African American Music is a new addition to Nashville as of 2020, and is a must-visit on any trip to this Music City.
The National Museum of African American Music is a fascinating day out for the family, especially the kids. Here, they can explore a number of exhibits that showcase the achievements and influence of African American music, even as far back as the 1600s!
Kids can learn all about spirituals, jazz, blues, gospel, RnB and hip hop through the host of arficats, objects, memorabilia and technology that fill the exhibits. The fascinating exhibits really will take you on a journey.
Learn about the evolution of African American music traditions, or explore the great migration and emergence of blues. Kids can learn about the connection with music and religious experiences, and discover music within the Civil Rights Movement.
Uncover the emergence of jazz, and the urban renewal from the 1970s to present day.
Complete with Museum Shop and programs within the community to continue the educational experience, the National Museum of African American Music is a great family day out experience in Nashville!

Allow between 2 hours and half a day to really enjoy the museum. Tours begin every 30 minutes

The Museum Store is open 7 days a week and is filled with educational items as well as souvenirs, apparel, electronics, and plenty of logo merchandise!
