Mystic Museum of Art
About Mystic Museum of Art
Mystic Museum of Art is a free admission museum great for kids to explore art in all forms! It's provided over 100 years of art fun for families on the Connecticut waters, and is a great day out for the whole family.
Your experience at the Mystic Museum of Art will see you exploring both the exhibits (which rotate, so there will always be something new to head back to!), as well as the permanent collection - all showcasing art of prominent American artists.
The exhibits may see kids gaining an insight into specific artists, or a specific technique - or perhaps a specific art form or theme!
Then, you have that permanent collection, which consists of over 250 works of art!
The Mystic Museum of Art began life as an artist colony back in 1913 when a man named Charles H Davis had a vision. Artists such as Beatrice Cuming, Henry Ward Ranger and Robert Brackman are featured within the collection, which showcases art from the first quarter of the 20th century, to the early 2000s, not only giving kids an art education, but a historical one too!
In addition to the works of art on display, the Mystic Museum of Art offers a number of studio classes - for both adults and children - if you're feeling inspired and want to get your own creative talents flowing!
They also host fun Parents Night Out, and Family Free Days, so make sure you check out the website and really exploree all the fun things that are offered!
So kids, are you ready to have an art-tastic day out in Mystic? Great, because the Mystic Museum of Art is ready for you!
