Sometimes when planning a family day out, you might overlook how fascinating the area that you is might actually be! Well, at the Museum of North Idaho, you can have a cultural experience with the whole family, and learn all about the cultural heritage of right under your feet!
The Museum of North Idaho preserves and interprets all of it's collection, in order to understand the Coeur d'Alene Region. It's a great way for kids to understand history, and how it doesn't occur in faraway places. It can be just around the corner!
Every season, the Museum features an exhibit which looks at a particular element of local history. There is also a permanent exhibit hall which actually brings to life the history and the people that have shaped the area to what it is today!
Students always get a kick out of historians wearing period dress and conducting living history walking tours, and re-enactors are also available for living history presentations. Each one represents a leading historical figure that actually had an impact in the area.
The exhibits cover fascinating topics, from local agriculture, recreation, logging, sawmills, and even steamboats!
You can also learn about the local tribes that lived in the area as hunger gathers, long before Europeans settled in the area.
A great look at local history for the kids, they can even use their imagination to think about what it would have been like to live in the area all those years ago, and who the names and the faces were behind the artifacts!
