About Museum of East Alabama
Alabama has such a rich history, and some of its fascinating past can be explored at the Museum of East Alabama. Located in the heart of Opelika's historic downtown, the Museum of East Alabama houses over 5,000 artifacts that cover local, state and general history.
There are six exhibits within the museum, teach telling its own story of the past
Kids can see Roanoke Dolls, as well as Camp Opelika items (kids, what was a WWII POW camp), and even explore early sound recording technology
Exhibits showcase early agricultural implements, as well as fire fighting tools, and household items - all giving you a look into the incredible technological changes that have happened over the past century.
You can even see a wonderful musical instrument collection too, including a turn of the century harp!
There's an authentic 1930s buggy in the collection, and even examples of pine needle basketry work!
The Museum of East Alabama also host some fun events across the year, including a seasonal Christmas experience, so it really is a day of history and discovery in Opelika!
