Monahans Sandhills State Park is a unique experience right in the heart of the desert, with a host of fun things to do with kids, including an 800 acre equestrian area! This popular Texas attraction offers families so many activities to fill that adventurous family day out. Grab those hiking shoes because there is plenty of hiking trails to explore the park on, or just relax with your homemade picnic in the many picnic areas.
Horseback riding is also an option at Monahans Sandhills State Park, or just sit back, relax and check out the bird and wildlife watching opportunities!
Speaking of horses, did you know that the park has an 800 acre equestrian areas without marked trails?
If you want to extend that family day out to overnight or longer, there is camping available within the park.
Want to enjoy something unusual? What if we told you that you could go surfing in the Texas desert? Yep! You can use sand toboggans or discs for "surfing? on the sand dunes. These can also be rented at the park headquarters too!
A great place to start your journey is at the Dunagan Visitor Center, where you can explore the hands-on exhibits of the cultural and natural history of this very special part of Texas.
