About Minnesota Transportation Museum

We all have gotten the bus to school, or a train ride out into the country to perhaps visit Grandma.  It seems such a natural thing for you to do, doesn't it?

Well, it wasn't always like that!  Someone had to invent these wonderful transport options, and then improve on them so you have your lovely yellow bus and high speed trains that you know today!

The Minnesota Transportation Museum operates the Jackson Street Roundhouse - a historic former steam engine maintenance facility, so kids get a real first hand insight into the world of transport!

You can experience the history of the Minnesota and upper-Midwest railroads through fun and interesting interactive displays, and of course have an opportunity to ride the rails yourself!

There is also a chance to ride a bus or a caboose!

What do you think it must have been like trying to build all of these railways?  Clickety-Clack! Clickety-Clack!  They would have heard that sound all day!

For those little train lovers, they can pop down to Tots and Trains held every morning from 10am - 12pm where the whole family can enjoy some train fun!  There is an open play area with train tables and new displays always being added, and the kids can even create a craft to take home!  Parents, there will be coffee an treats for you!  These are an extra cost and tickets can be purchased at the door.

Happy training!
