Middleton Place spans 110 amazing acres which include 65 acres of the USA's oldest landscaped gardens which is pretty impressive!
As you stroll around these iconic gardens you can enjoy floral allées, as well as marvel at the terraced lawns, and kids always love looking at a pair of ornamental lakes shaped like butterfly wings! Also at Middletone Place you'll find a House Museum which was built in 1755 as a gentleman's guest quarters and business office, and Eliza’s House which shares the real stories of those African and African Americans who worked on the plantation offering an eye opening look at their lives as enslaved people - from their daily tasks to also their lives once their work is done.
Also at Middleton Place you can explore working Stableyards with artisans and heritage breed animals (always a favorite with the little ones!) as well as an on-site restaurant, Inn, and Organic Farm!
General Admission currently includes access to their 65 acres of formal landscaped Gardens, an indepth look look at 18th and 19th century plantation life complete with exhibits and displays, plus exploration of those animals in the Stableyards.
A truly fascinating and historic Charleston experience not to be missed.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Middleton Place?
The Middleton Place Restaurant offers delicious Low Country inspired meals all made from local, organic and fresh ingredients!
Any top tips when visiting?
They offer a number of tours as part of the admission so check online before you go so you can plan! You can also bundle your admission with other nearby historic attractions if you want to see more and save!
Does Middleton Place have a gift shop?
The Museum Shop is open daily from 10am - 5pm and is found adjacent to the parking with a host of books, accessories, home and garden items, jewelery and more! They also have a Garden Market and Nursery too
Teachers corner
Middleton Place love to welcome kids to the grounds to immerse themselves in history! All programs offered aligns with the South Carolina Department of Education Standards, and you and also customize your experience to meet the curriculum of your class allowing you to explore an array of themes – from the American Revolution, slavery in the U.S. as well as the Civil War - right through to daily life on the plantation, rice culture, animal husbandry and more.

Is Middleton Place fully accessible?
Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed at Middleton Place. Properly trained service animals are permitted, but due to free roaming livestock and natural predators, they may not be allowed in some areas

On site there is also the beautiful Middleton Inn with 55 rooms where you can enhance your stay even longer - and with your room rate you also get admission to the gardens and museums too!
