McNenny State Fish Hatchery

Interpretive signs and information panels around the hatchery facilitate self guided tours as the kids explore every stage of the lifespan of the trout and salmon, plus learning about sustainability and fish rearing and management.

Research is a large part of the facility's business and the potential educational value of the visit is extensive if you approach it that way, but younger kids will also enjoy the high tech equipment and quantity of fish.

It's a fairly rare treat, being one of only two public visitable hatcheries in South Dakota.
