About Makena Stables

Saddle up kids, it's time to take in the amazing Hawaii scenery on horseback with Makena Stables!

Makena Stables is a great way to explore the landscapes and give kids that invaluable animal experience. It's more than just a trail ride here, it's the "real thing" with the true aloha spirit Hawaii is famous for!

Many of the horses have been trained competitively by the staff in rodeos, so you know the horses are well trained, and the staff understand them - which means they know which horse is perfect for you based on your ability, age and size. You'll be in great hands!

There are two rides you can enjoy - the Morning Ride and Sunset Ride. The Morning Ride is suitable for most levels of rides, with 90 minutes of riding along rock shorelines trails and expansive views. The Sunset Ride is all about those cooler trade wind breezes and golden afternoon sunset - truly spectacular!

All of the rides are conducted on the Ulupalakua Ranch, which is 20,000 acres of some of the most wild land on Maui - and the most beautiful! It overlooks the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve, La Perouse Bay and if you look closely you might even see some recent lava flow and outer islands too!

Keep an eye out also for the amazing wildlife, including the Axis deer.
