Louisville Nature Center
About Louisville Nature Center
Louisville Nature Center is a wonderful community resource that offers kids a chance to study and enjoy nature, without having to leave Louisville!
Take your time wandering around the features for you to enjoy, like the native wildflower garden and pond, or gardens filled with beautifully colorful butterflies. Perhaps one might land on you!
There are scenic hiking trails through Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve where you can spend a few hours getting lost in nature, and even play some games in the trees! This 41 acre urban forest has over 2 miles of hiking trails for you, with boardwalks where the ground might not be the best to walk on. Enjoy the incredible diversity of plants, with over 180 species of trees alone! Did you ever know there were that many!?
They also have over 150 species of birds, and 30 species of butterflies. Can you recognize any from the butterfly gardens?
There are also always wildlife exhibits, as well as a Beargrass Creek watershed exhibit.
If you just LOVED being out in nature, you could try one of their summer camps! You will enjoy fun games, go on hikes, and make lots of new friends (human and animal!) Great for those budding naturalists aged 4 - 12, they will give you exciting hands-on learning about all the local wildlife you are seeing.
If you want a unique way to spend the birthday - ideally those between 4 and 8 - then they can offer you a party package that includes a healthy and active hike and a nature discovery, as well as a live animal presentation! A real live animal! Super cute.
