About Lost River Cave

Did you know that Lost River Cave is Kentucky's ONLY underground boat tour? That's pretty impressive! What's even more impressive is that this family day out adventure is so much more than an incredible tour of a natural wonder!

Lost River Cave also has a seasonal butterfly habitat, nature trails, treasure mining and a kids cave crawl - sounds amazing!

First - that underground boat tour! This tour starts with a fun stroll through the valley as the guide tells you all about the blue hole, and those mysterious disappearing Civil War soldiers - strange!

Then, you board at the cave entrance (don't forget to duck your head!) and then you head into an enormous cathedral-like cavern. Spend some time looking around and see how wonderful nature really is!

You can also kayak the cave, which is a unique experience for the family, and kids can enjoy the Discovery Cave Crawl, great for birthday parties!

Also at Lost River Cave, those nature trails are great to stretch those legs, as there are nearly 2 miles of easy walking trails to enjoy. You can enjoy blue holes, a natural spring and even limestone bluffs. Try and spot the remains of a stone building that once stored dynamite!

The natural spring is a 1/2 mile walk from the visitor's center, and it's the perfect place to dip in your toes on those hot summer days.

Those budding geologists in the family can pan for a gemstone or fossil treasures too! They might find Amber, Quartz, Amethyst or Pyrite. Kids will even receive a key card so they can identify their new found treasures!

Adventures all round in this Kentucky GEM of an attraction!
