Loggerhead Marinelife Center
About Loggerhead Marinelife Center
Florida's waters have some amazing creatures - there's no doubt about that! But one creature in particular is very sweet, very special, and sadly endangered. The gorgeous loggerhead turtle!
The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Florida is there to not only promote the conservation of these beautiful creatures, as well as the surrounding ecosystem, but there are there to welcome families who want to explore and learn all about what they do!
There are a number of experiences that you can have throughout the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Have you ever wondered how they care for those injured little animals? At the veterinary hospital that they have on-site, you can actually experience the treatment room through the observation windows. You can even watched them x-ray those little sea turtles when they first arrive!
Once these little turtles are out of the medical facilities, they head into the Florida power and Light turtle yard, where they live as they continue receiving treatment - and yes, it's open to the public! You can check out the little web cam too once you are back home so you can keep track of the process of your favorite turtle!
In addition to the hospital, there is a host of other experiences that you can enjoy. There is fish feeding where kids can learn all about the different feeding behaviors of fish, and a fish ID program where if you're keen on diving, you can learn all about the fish that you are going to encounter!
For those active families, you might want to join the Hammock Hikes, which are led by an experienced naturalist. You get your journey through some of the state's most precious habitat, including the natural dune systems.
From Mommy and Me painting, to public guided tours, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is filled with so much to see and do for all ages!
