There is something lovely when you are in a city and fancy some time in nature..and you don't have to go far to get it!

Lichterman Nature Center is located in the heart of metropolitan Memphis, and is a place where the family can escape into a little piece of nature whenever you like!

The nature center is filled with new exhibits where the kids can learn all about the species of plants and wildlife around them, as well as lush gardens where you can explore native trees and wildflowers.

There are actually 65 amazing acres of forests, lakes and meadows which are home to a number of species of birds, reptiles, plants, mammals and even amphibians!

Did you know that the Lichterman Nature Center is a certified arboretum? It's also a great for ANY weather because there are things to do indoors and outdoors...so take your pick!

The Backyard Wildlife Center has a host of live animals, discoveries, hands-on explorations AND a forest boardwalk which is a very cool 2 stories high! Pretty impressive! Did you know that there is even an underwater viewing area too? Who would have thought THAT in a nature center!

The Visitor Center gives families exhibits to check out, with the theme of metamorphosis and change - all connected to the three main habitats within the nature center - the forest, the meadow and the lake. So kids can learn all about the actual environment around them! You never know what might surprise you!

For those active families there are three miles of trails - all accessible - that loop and wind their way through nature, with lots of rest stops along the way so you can just take your time!

Nature walks, wildlife programs, festivals....just waiting to give you a great day in nature!
