Iowa Children's Museum
About Iowa Children's Museum
Sometimes museums aren't the most exciting places for kids. They walk around looking at artefacts in glass cases that they're not allowed to touch, and can't really read the information about it.
But...what if we said there was a museum JUST FOR KIDS! Get out of town!
The Iowa Children's Museum is all about letting children touch, feel, play, learn and experience what is on display.
For kids up to 12 years old, they can leave the routine of their day to day behind and get lost in quality time together with their families.
There are both permanent and changing exhibits, all interactive where they "play to learn" about various elements in their development - with their families hugely involved in the process.
Each exhibit is rich with unique hands-on educational elements that promote problem solving, discovery and active exploration which result in learning, but they aren't really aware of it!
Some of the exhibits are age appropriate, such as ImaginAcres for those up to 5 years old, where they will find a number of developmentally appropriate experiences that were developed just for them.
For those a bit more adventurous, they can take on "Take Flight" which features very cool high-tech flight simulators built into kid-sized planes, a hot air balloon, and even an air traffic control tower! It's a complete set up that allows them to experience technology, math and engineering - and to make it simple.
The museum are happy to host your birthday party for you, so you can play and celebrate at the same time, and they also offer a number of programs such as summer camps and fun evening sessions int he museum to create!
