About Independence Seaport Museum

Dive into your next family day out in Philadelphia and head to the Independence Seaport Museum, where you can embark on an exciting voyage through the region's rich maritime history!

The mission of the Independence Seaport Museum is to deepen your understanding, appreciation and experience of the waterways in the Philadelphia region through science, history and art - and of course experiences on the water!

You can dive into the new exhibit Diver Alive that brings the wildlife, science and wonder of the Delaware River up close for you to explore, before uncovering the past with one of the LARGEST maritime artifact and art collections in the entire North American region!

There's interactive fun when you observe live demonstrations in the boatbuilding workshop, and get hands-on with science, math, engineering and technology in the Citizen Science Lab and MakerSpace.

Of course, let's not miss the incredible historic ships at the Independence Seaport Museum! You can raise the sails and discover the rich history of the US Navy as you climb aboard Schooler Diligence, as well as check out the National Historic Landmark ships - the Cruiser Olympia and Submarine Becuna.

Don't miss those experiences on the water too, with plenty of opportunities to actually get out yourselves and see the Philadelphia sky line from a whole new point of view!

It's a seafaring day out for all ages at the Independence Seaport Museum, so raise those sails kids, it's time to launch!
