About Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History
It's all about the animals and learning fun at Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History!
This fun family day out destination in Sioux Falls is home to 1,000 amazing animals, representing 137 species – from anteater to zebras. It's here the family can enjoy up-close views of these animals from all over the world. You can meet a giraffe, see the tigers play, rhinos in their element and a jumping, hooting array of primates in the award-winning Snow Monkey exhibit.
You can see animals from North America that you might be very familiar with, including the impressive black and brown bears, iconic American bison, and even the red wolf.
Africa comes to life with the zebra, wild dogs, and even animals you may not have heard of before, including the Eastern bongo.
The family can even enjoy a taste of Asia with the endangered snow leopard and amur tiger.
The Zoo also includes the Delbridge Museum of Natural History, a rare collection of 150 mounted animals, including 38 “vanishing” species. This was donated from a private collection back in the 1940s to 1960s, when the animals were hunted legally. Today, kids can see these creatures up close, and also continue their learning experience.
A fascinating and WILD day out in South Dakota, where animals and education come together!
