About Great Basin Museum

The past meets the future at the Great Basin Museum in Delta, Utah!

The Great Basin Museum features a number of fine exhibits that explore the rich history of the area.

Kids can see historic artifacts of pioneer memorabilia from the very early days of settlement, and even early western farm equipment. Can you imagine working on a farm with these tools, kids? Pretty different to today we imagine!

You can also experience what it would have been like to live as a pioneer in Utah, with the collection of pioneer home artifacts from the area.

You can get a glimpse into the world of the Fremont, and a time when Native Americans inhabited the valleys in very large numbers, and learn about the early explorers of Millard County - the Spanish, and then the Mormons.

The museum also presents an excellent history of western Utah's mining methods and tools, and has many interesting illustrations.

If you have questions, speak to the docents who love to relate experiences from their early years in the valley, and love hearing your stories too!

Let's not forget about the collections of rocks, fossils and minerals that are on display at the Great Basin Museum, all found in the area. Do some surprise you?

A fascinating insight into the history of a region!
