Love American history? You will certainly be in your element at Maryland's Fort Frederick State Park! This 585 acre park feature a host of artifacts and landmark from the colonial period, right through to the present day.

Kids can see first hand history come back to life right in front of their very eyes. There are a host of experiences the family can enjoy at Fort Frederick State Park. 

Kids can see a unique stone fort that once served as the state's frontier defense during the French and Indian War.

The family can head to the Fort's stone wall and two barracks that have been restored to their 1758 appearance, so you can just imagine what it was like to live in that time.

Fort Frederick feature a number of historic exhibits in the Fort, barracks, CCC Museum as well as the Visitor Center. Speaking of which, the Visitor Center is a great place to start your historic adventure. 

The Visitor Centre offers a short orientation film, historical mannequin exhibits and information about the region, so you can become families with your surroundings, making your experience all the more rich!

The park also has a number of options for those active and playful kids. There is a boat launch, as well as campsites. Kids can enjoy the playground, or just relax and fish for a while!
