About Fontenelle Forest Nature Center

After a day out in Omaha city, you might want to get back to nature and Fontenelle Forest Nature Center is the perfect choice!

Founded back in 1913, Fontenelle Forest is actually one of Nebraska's oldest conservation organizations! If that wasn't impressive enough, it's also one of the largest private nature centers in the entire USA!

It's here you can explore over 2,100 acres of various landscapes including forest, wetlands and prairie, all along the Missouri River. It's where you can enjoy the quiet wild of nature and be inspired!

Did we mention that Fontenelle Forest is also a National Natural Landmark AND listed on the National Register of Historic Sites!

Walking or hiking the trails of the Fontenelle Forest really is an experience unlike any other within the Omaha metro area. These unique areas have been protected since 1913 and are home to many beautiful and unique species of plants and animals!

It's not just walking and hiking that you can enjoy at this special natural wonder. You can visit the Raptor Woodland Refuge, or visit the indoor Habitat Hollow where kids can learn all about the wildlife. It might be the fun Acorn Acres that the playful little ones might grativate to, or you can enjoy the art at the Baright Gallery!

With so much to see and do at Fontenelle Forest, it might be that you need TWO family days out here! You never know, but there's only one way to find out! C'mon kids, nature is calling!
