About Family Museum

The Mission of the Family Museum is to inspire life-long learning in children through arts and science activities and exhibits, and with an emphasis on role play and interactive learning, it really is a place where the entire family can play and learn together!

Within this fun and colorful Iowa museum, there are a number of fun, creative and hands-on exhibits that will entertain and allow kids to learn, discover and have fun in a safe environment.

They can visit the kiddie town of Fox Hollow, filled with friendly neighbors, fun activities and plenty of hands-on fun. Those imaginations can run wild as they play the role of the vet, or the store manager, and even show their bravery as a firefighter!

Maybe the children are drawn to delivering delicious pizza, or delivering important mail for others? Whatever and wherever their imaginations choose to take them, Family Museum welcomes it!

Kids can learn all about food on George's Farm, where they can pick vegetables, feed the animals and even can corn in the Corn Factory - it's a wonderful introduction for future gardeners and farmers!

The Mighty Mississippi is ready to be explored in the Lil 'Ssippi River Valley exhibit - of course just on a small scale! Here you can enjoy a 28ft waterplay table based on an actual stretch of that famous river, along with a working crane to move cargo from the dock to a boat, and even largest bridges which are similar to real ones!

For those little ones under 4 years, the Family Museum has a Playhouse area designed just for them, with a laundry sorting area, backyard perfect for those crawlers, and even a virtual pond where they can make a splash without getting wet!

With a Thinkshop filled with real materials and real tools to challenge, and an outdoor play area for those warm months to enjoy some sun, Family Museum really is a family experience where learning through play is how you can spend your family day out!

So c'mon kids - it's time to PLAY!
