E.P Tom Sawyer State Park

It's time to get into nature in Kentuky at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park! Here, there are SO many fun things to do with the kids that you might just find yourself going back again, and again, and again!

How about we start with those astronomy lovers in the family? E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park host FREE monthly Star Parties! Gaze through their telescopes and see all the impressive planets and sparkling stars in all their glory. If you have your own telescope, you can take that for a lesson on how to get the most out of it!

Feeling adventurous like an explorer? At this popular state park you can try your hand at orienteering, where you can use a map and compass to complete a specific course. Whether you want to take on the challenge or as a family, you'll have a great time! In fact, E.P Tom Sawyer State Park has a 4.2km permanent orenteering course where 10 check points await on across both park-like and mixed forest setting!

Archery is also a great activity within the park! It's also FREE and open to the public, as well as badmington where you do need to bring your own equipment.

Love basketball? The full court outdoor basketball court awaits between dawn and dusk for those future NBA champions!

You're out in nature, so wildlife is always around you and worth looking for, and at the park many of the year around birding residents hang out! Throughout the winter months you can spot wrens, cardinals, chickadees, sparrows, robins and even woodpeckers. Come spring and summer, the neotropical migrants call it home!

Love BMX? You're in luck! The BMX track at Tom Sawyer State Park is actually considered one of the very best in the country AND it hosts the National BMX Grand Championships every Labor Day Weekend!

Also at the park are miles of hiking trails that meader through various amazing landscapes, and one open just to hikers which means you can get those walking shoes on and enjoy the scenery without worrying about bikes riding past you. With trails open year round, there's no excuse to not get out there and enjoy what Tom Sawyer State Park offers!

What if we also told you that model airplane flyers can also have their time to shine at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park? Yep! Members of the River City Remote Controllers can use their 400ft runway, and you can even keep an eye out for the contests if you really love it!

With the park also offering pickleball, plenty of picnicking opportunities, fun playgrounds for the children, soccer, softball, and even tennis, we told you that there might just be too much for you to not find yourself heading back!
