Doyle Memorial Recreation Area
About Doyle Memorial Recreation Area
Located on Green Lake, Doyle Memorial is leased by the city of Wishek. The area is popular for camping, fishing and boating.
This small prairie park, established in 1925, occupies a peninsula jutting into Green Lake in the rolling farmland of south central North Dakota.
The park is named after J.J. Doyle, who gave the original acreage. Doyle came to the area in 1884 with his father who homesteaded nine miles south of Wishek. He served on the first village board when Wishek was established in 1898, and later served in the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1909 and 1915.
Although Doyle Memorial is one of the state's smaller parks, it offers great opportunities for outdoor recreation with picnic shelters, modern campsites, boat ramp and playground.
