It’a dinosaur time! The Dinosaur Discovery Site is a fascinating, fun and educational experience for those kids who just can’t get enough of our prehistoric friends.

The site represents discoveries from an Early Jurassic period, around the lakeside area.  There are thousands of tracks which have been found, from carnivorous dinosaurs that once roamed the shoreline. (Don’t know what carnivorous means? Kids, all the more reason to head down to find out!)

These tracks are incredibly preserved in sandstone which has captured for millions of years the details of the print and the actions that the dinosaur was doing – how amazing is that!? It’s incredible to imagine how something can survive millions of years, but they do. And just as well, because now families can all enjoy them!

Because of its location on that amazing prehistoric lake, they also have the largest collection of dinosaur swim tracks on display!

To really tell the story, the Dinosaur Discovery Site have reproductions of these remarkable tracks and dinosaurs which created them, as well as incredible displays of something other find, such as dinosaur eggs, and information on how these dinos got their names. Why do you think the T-Rex was called T-Rex?

We of course have saved the best til last! There is an super fun interactive children’s area where they can do dinosaur stencils and rubbings, play with a host of dinosaur toys, and try and conquer those dinosaur puzzles. There are even “finds” outside the building where bones can be touched and looked for – they can be real archaeologists!
