About Deke Slayton Memorial Space and Bike Museum
The Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bike Museum certainly is a fascinating place to visit, because not only does it celebrate all things transportation, it honors the history, AND events and people locally connected to Wisconsin.
A visit to the Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bike Museum is a progression through transportation, where kids can learn about one end of the transportation spectrum, such as bicycles, and moving right through to airplanes, and then finally into space!
One of the main goals of this Wisconsin museum is to enhance an understanding, interest and appreciation in the career of Donald Kent "Deke" Slayton.
The museum also aims to showcase the history of bicycling, as well as showcase the legacy and stories of Wisconsin astronauts, and of course location aviation relative to Monroe County.
Don't miss a chance to see the ONLY piece of moonrock on display in the entire state of Wisconsin! It's an amazing artifact that kids always love, and yes kids - it's actually from the moon!
Also at the museum is a Children's Area - included in the admission price - where they can enjoy hands-on fun including playing in a space capsule, try on an astronaut suit, make paper airplanes, and so much more!
A fascinating and fun day out in Wisconsin, where history, space, and family fun all come together!
