Deer Lake State Park shares it's name with the stunning coastal dune lake within it's boundaries, so it will be easy to remember! Even more reason to remember the area, is that coastal dune lakes are actually extremely rare in worldwide. In the USA, they only occur along the Gulf Coast, so you know you're in for something special!
Southern magnolias, golden asters, woody goldenrod, and scrub oaks can be seen in this coastal dune habitat, so you might want to take your camera!. Nature lovers, keep an eye out for the rare plants such as gulf coast lupine, and spoonflower.
A great way to explore Deer Lake State Park is the boardwalk, which offers across the dunes as well as easy access to the beach. Here, you can enjoy a picnic, or take a swim in the waters. Love fishing, great! Here you can really take in the spectacular view of the dune ecosystem.
If you want to grab those hiking boots, there is one and a half miles of nature trails just from the park entrance, but take those cameras too in case you spot some of the wildlife in the area. You might spot the Florida black bear, or coyote, Snowy plover and even deer.
A beautiful part of the country, Deer Lake State Park is nature at it's finest!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Deer Lake State Park?
Why not take a picnic! The park offers one picnic pavilion on a first-come, first-served basis. The pavilion is located at the day-use parking area.

Deer Lake State Park has a self composting Clivus (restroom). There is no electric or water provided.
