Cuyahoga Valley National Park
About Cuyahoga Valley National Park
For a nature-filled day out not far from Cleveland, look no further than Cuyahoga Valley National Park!
Not only is Cuyahoga Valley National Park a refuge for native plants and wildlife, but it also offers plenty of outdoor adventures for families with a host of hiking trails plus the Towpath Trail allowing you to follow the historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal!
Here's a fun fact kids: did you know that the winding Cuyahoga (or the "crooked river" as named by American Indians) gives way to deep forests, rolling hills, and open farmlands.
What's so special about Cuyahoga Valley is that it really is a space where flora and fauna can thrive. The park gives a sense of times past, and provides recreation (and solitude if you want to really escape) for all who visit.
To really discover the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park you can take to exploring the Towpath Trail. This trail - whether you bike, jog or walk - can see you traveling the historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal on the very same path that mules use to walk as they towed canal boats loaded with goods and passengers.
It's from the trail you can make connections to many natural and historic sites including the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, which is always so much fun for the kids!
Nature, outdoor adventure, history, railroads, wildlife...there is so much going on at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, you might just have to extend your stay beyond a day!
