About Coon Creek Science Center

Can you even imagine what Tennessee would have been like 70 million years ago? What do you think it would have been like! What creatures do you think would have lived there? Well, at the Coon Creek Science Center, you don't have to imagine too much, because they have all the answers there for you!

The Coon Creek Science Center is located in McNairy County, which also happens to be one of the most important fossil sites in the entire continent of North America! During your visit, you will see all the amazing fossils of creatures that once lived in the area (when it was actually under water! The Gulf of Mexico used to cover all of where you are standing right now!)

Clams, crabs, snails, giant mosasaurs, and even sharks were all found in the area, and over time, the waters subsided and what was left are the amazing remnants of the state's past life.

The Coon Creek Science Center is a great place for kids to visit, and discover some amazing things. There are hands-on displays and activities which really allow them to learn through experiments and using their senses.

It's a great place for kids to not only learn, but have fun as well. There are some pretty cool artifacts on display, so allow enough time to see everything!

The Coon Creek Science Center is limited to organized groups, so perfect for those school trips!
